Stewards & Campsite Facilities

The Campsite Stewards team are responsible for running the Festival Medical Services Campsite and more often than not, we are the first FMS representatives that members meet at the Festivals. Our aim is to get everyone onto our sites with a smile and a minimum of fuss.

The key elements of the job include the following:

  • Management of the Campsite

    • Controlling of access 24/7
    • Ensuring that the Health & Safety requirements of those camping and caravanning are correctly adhered to
    • Helping to keep the site tidy
  • Coordination of the check-in desk
    • Checking in members as they arrive,
    • Issuing of wrist bands,
    • Providing information on FMS activities and the Festival
  • Selling FMS merchandise
  • Acting as a contact point for travelling members
  • Act as a shuttle service for pedestrian arrivals at distant gates

  • Able and willing to perform multiple tasks around site, some of which may be unpleasant( moving rubbish) and some of which require patience( helping put tents up in a wind)
  • Aware of health and safety, and fire safety issues and prepared to politely instruct others on site.
  • Possess a full clean driving licence and able to drive an FMS vehicle.
  • Happy to sell merchandise.

Attributes

  • Adaptable and resourceful.
  • Sense of Humour
  • Willing to hang on at the end of a long shift to help our arriving members if needed.

Age range 16+ year olds can be considered for this team and will work with older buddies. This team has a range of workers of all ages and currently includes;

  •
    • Very experienced FMS members, some of whom have worked in other areas like first aid .
    • Younger workers who have started attending with their working parents
    • People with the above 'desirable' skills

Please note that there are only limited opportunities to join this team.

 What Next?

2010 will see further improvements to the team with lots of new ideas coming forward following the amalgamation of the "Campsite Crew" and the "Stewards" in 2009.

Social Events

We plan to improve yet again the social life at events and are pleased to announce that these two nutters' are once again heading up the social team. With a highly trained group of volunteers the famous FMS watering hole will once again be open for business.

"Supported by local a brewery we hope to bring you all your usual favourites with a few suprises thrown in" said Sue Newman seen here (left) in Asda doing the weekly shopping with partner Fred!

OMG - it's going to be mad!
