Gambia Village Clinic Project
Festival Medical Services supports a Gambian village clinic and Ambulance in the remote village of Bakary Sambou-Ya in a remote area in the Gambia.
Clinic
The vilage has its own Nurse led clinic which provides medical care for the local community. Providing vital healthcare for an ever increasing population in an area badly affected by Malaria during the rainy season is quite a challenge and the villagers supliment running costs by raising money from the sale of locally grown fruit and vegetables from their very own market garden.
Women's Garden
A large communal women's garden in which cash crops are grown providing the main source of income for the village, which has also suffered from the curse of hunger and problems with unrestricted animals. It is currently surrounded by a fragile wooden fence that has to be replaced and provides little protection from the unwanted grazers. The Gambia village project, is hoping to improve crop growing education, including sustainable practices, as well as providing sturdier perimeter fencing.
Ambulance & Community Bus
- Take emergencies to hospital
- Take women to ante- and post-natal clinics
- Take women to market in the early morning, enabling them to take more produce to sell

- Serve the community
On behalf of everyone in the village.....THANKS VERY MUCH to all FMS volunteers.
