Do you know who your managers are?

Dr Chris Howes

Chris is a GP in Shepton Mallet, Somerset and has been with FMS since the very beginning. He first organised medical cover for Glastonbury Festival in 1979 and founded Festival Medical Services during the 1980's. He was involved in setting up the charity in 1997 and was Chairman of Trustees for its first twelve years. He is now Managing Director of the organisation and heads the Management Team. His responsibilities include liaising with event promoters and licensing authorities, maintaining standards, developing policy and overseeing FMS activities on site at events

Nich Woolf

Originally sent to Glastonbury by Somerset Ambulance Service to reduce the number of ambulances used. Met Chris and ended up sat on an Aga controlling ambulances. Took part in the gradual formation of FMS doing many and varied roles. A paramedic with experience in many aspects including Control, CBRN and major incidents as well as hands on experience at several festivals. Now acts as Night Manager covering the hours when all normal people are asleep.

Dave Parry

Dave teamed up with Dr Chris in the 80's at Glastonbury Festival when FMS was just a concept. He has been part of the team ever since in various roles and as a member of the management team he oversees service delivery. He also holds the post of Operations Director. When he gets a minute, Dave is a state registered paramedic and works for Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust running a busy EMS team in the South East Region of Wales. Dave's experience both in the NHS and the voluntary sector holds him in good stead for the challenge that is FMS.

Malcolm Smith

Malcolm Joined FMS in 1993 as a Paramedic and holds a key operational role as Pre-Hospital Manager. Other areas within his remit include, Stage Safety. As an experienced NHS manager now working in the private sector Malcolm's knowledge and skills are fully challenged at all our events.


Jane Honey

Jane Honey has been attending Glastonbury Festival for nearly 30 years, she has following in the family tradition of being involved in FMS. As part of the management team, her role is to ensure that all the Health and Safety responsibilities are met and to liaise closely with site managers. Jane is a County Operations Manager for North Wales Fire & Rescue Service and draws upon her experience as an operational officer at Bronze and Silver levels. She carries out operational risk assessments for FMS and is a great asset with her dynamic problem solving skills.

John Reeves

John joined FMS in 2007 after coming along as a guest for several years.  Being non-clinical, he was keen to offer his skills to the organisation. He works as the Divisional Accountant & HR Manager at Metal Improvement Co LLC in Chester a division of the Multi-National Curtis Wright Corporation. His area of management responsibility is the support teams, pharmacy, stores, campsite stewards & couriers and his organisational hands-on approach is of great benifit to FMS .
