Radiography Team
The team consists of 10 radiographers to provide a 24 hour x-ray service from early Wednesday morning until Monday afternoon. We have radiographers from all over the country with varying levels of experience. At present we use an Xograph Dragon digital unit.
The purpose of our team is to diagnose injuries so that patients can be treated on site whenever possible. They can then continue to enjoy the festival and we help reduce the amount of hospital transfers needed. Digital images are put onto CD-ROM discs and given to patients for follow ups in their local hospital.
We average about 150 examinations per festival, most of these being extremities. We do have a grid for use in emergencies, but we have strict regulations of the range of examinations that we can undertake, as we are in a 'field' situation.
As we are part of Festival Medical Services we have a secure campsite with a canteen, entertainment, hot showers and flushing loos. You will need to be disciplined, hardworking and have a good sense of humour and a strong pair of wellies.
To become a member of the team you will require HPC registration and a minimum of 2 years post qualification experience, preferably in a trauma hospital. We will require a CV and will be asking for references later on. There is unfortunately a waiting list for the team at the moment.
